Fire policeman who died on duty to be honored

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Preston E. Patterson, a Manchester fire-police member who died in the line of duty last fall, will be among those remembered at Friday's 14th annual Fallen Heroes Day at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.

The memorial honors police and firefighters who died in the line of duty in the past year.

Patterson, 66, had been a member of the Manchester Fire Engine and Hook & Ladder Company since 1962. He became a member of the fire police in 1982. While directing traffic at the scene of an auto accident, Preston suffered a heart attack and died.

He is survived by his wife, Janet, and two sons who are volunteer firefighters.
