Hot corner

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Quote: "It was like a Wiffle ball game out there." -- Closer Rod Beck, on the Cubs' 13-12 victory at windy Wrigley Field, where six home runs were hit.

It's a fact: Cubs relief pitcher Rodney Myers pinch hit a double in the sixth but was thrown out at the plate trying to score on Lance Johnson's single to right. Myers came in to pitch the next inning.

Who's hot: The Rockies' Larry Walker is 16-for-31 with six homers and 19 RBIs in his past seven games.

Who's not: Dodgers catcher Todd Hundley has thrown out only two runners in 28 stolen base attempts.

On deck: Masato Yoshii will stay in the Mets' rotation, and Allen Watson, who started while Rick Reed was on the disabled list, will go back to the bullpen.
