Two men are slightly injured as their plane goes off runway; Cause of accident at Lee Airport not known

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Two Prince George's County men escaped with minor injuries late Saturday when a single-engine aircraft ran off a runway at Lee Airport in Edgewater, Anne Arundel police reported yesterday.

The pilot, Stephen M. Bobby, 39, of Greenbelt, was released after treatment at Anne Arundel Medical Center. His passenger, Michael D. Bobby, 32, of Glenn Dale, did not require hospital treatment, police said.

Police responded to the airport shortly after 10 p.m. and found the pilot's 1976 Beechcraft Sundowner 180 "on the grass, fairly intact," a police dispatcher said.

County police contacted the Federal Aviation Administration, said police spokesman Lt. Jeff Kelly. The cause of the mishap has not been determined.
