THE BALTIMORE SUN

St. Mary's basketball standout Terri Daniels has committed orally to the University of Maryland and is expected to officially sign today or tomorrow.

The 5-foot-11 Daniels, a first-team All-Metro selection as a sophomore in 1997 and a regular on the All-County team in Anne Arundel, will receive a full scholarship to play at College Park.

The versatile Daniels, who lives in Ellicott City, played all five positions for St. Mary's last winter, averaging nine points, eight rebounds and 6.4 assists a game. The Saints advanced to the Catholic League tournament title game.

Daniels, one of Anne Arundel County's most versatile players, scored 1,041 points in her four-year high school career and ended second in St. Mary's history with 647 assists.
