Northeast topples No. 1 Arundel, 3-2; Softball

Northeast pitcher Rachel Herrick beat No. 1 Arundel on the mound and at the plate yesterday, as the No. 2 Eagles (11-2) recorded a 3-2 victory.

The sophomore singled home the winning run in the third inning and weathered a bases-loaded jam in the fifth to hold off the host Wildcats (11-2).

Howard 4, Atholton 3: The visiting Lions handed the 12th-ranked Raiders their first loss.

The Lions (7-4) took a 3-0 lead behind pitcher Lindsey Hasiuk. Atholton scored one in the seventh, and had the bases loaded with one out, but Hasiuk and the Lions got out of the inning.

Atholton beat Howard earlier in the season, 5-4.
