Chris Summers' four goals and two assists and Justin Mullen's two goals and one assist led sixth-ranked St. Mary's to a 12-11 upset yesterday of No. 1 Gilman, the defending Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference champ.

The win was the Saints' second over Gilman this spring. An 9-8 winner earlier, St. Mary's is 7-3 overall and 2-0 in Division III.

Kevin Boland had three goals and two assists, and Andrew Lucas and Ryan Boyle scored two goals and had two assists each for Gilman, which had won five straight but slipped to 8-2 overall and 1-2 in the division.

St. Mary's made the Greyhounds the fourth team to lose during the same week it debuted with the area's No. 1 rank. The Saints ended a three-game skid that included a 15-6 rout at Loyola, which lost to Gilman, 13-8, on Friday.

McDonogh lost to Boys' Latin the day it debuted as The Sun's No. 1 team, as did Boys' Latin to Gilman. St. Mary's beat St. Paul's the day the Saints debuted at No. 1 but lost four days later at Landon, an earlier loser to St. Paul's.
