A Keymar man was killed late Wednesday when his car went out of control and skidded off Route 194 in northwest Carroll County, state police said.

Investigators said Jay Wilbur Mullican, 49, of the 1900 block of Francis Scott Key Highway (Route 194), was driving south near his home at 11: 56 p.m. His 1987 Monte Carlo went out of control on a curve, struck a small sign and a tree, and continued across a grassy field, knocking down two electric fences before coming to a stop.

Police said they plan to reconstruct the accident.
