Accident victim still hospitalized

A Woodbine man who was was struck by a vehicle Friday while retrieving his dog from the roadway remained in critical condition yesterday at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

According to state police, Everett J. Knight, 66, of the 7000 block of Woodbine Road went into the road in front of his house and was returning with the dog from the southbound lane when he was struck by a northbound 1999 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Justin L. Allenof the 1400 block of Hoods Mill Road in Woodbine.

No charges were filed.

Mount Airy: Firefighters from Mount Airy and Lisbon in Howard County responded at 12: 26 p.m. Tuesday to a hazardous materials incident in the 1000 block of Twin Arch Road.
