Hampstead mayor files to run for re-election

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Hampstead Mayor Chris Nevin, a Republican, formally filed to run for re-election yesterday, accepting the challenge of Councilman Wayne H. Thomas, who entered the mayoral race last month.

Nevin has said he would run "as a ticket" with Councilmen Lawrence H. Hentz and Stephen A. Holland, who also are seeking re-election May 11. He noted that chief projects -- finding public water sources, moving forward on a long-planned bypass, a new police station, and the revitalization of Main Street -- are well under way, but not completed.

The council has worked cooperatively on the chief projects, but Thomas has questioned some of the council's business being conducted in closed sessions.

Fire

Hampstead: Firefighters responded at 2: 13 p.m. Wednesday to a field fire at Blackrock and Lower Buckleysville roads.
