Notre Dame slips past No. 15 Butler; Salisbury State has a field day, 29-4

Sophomore attackman David Ulrich scored with 53 seconds left to propel Notre Dame past No. 15 Butler, 8-7, yesterday in men's lacrosse at Moose Krause Stadium in Notre Dame, Ind.

It was the fifth win in their last six games for the Fighting Irish (5-2, 3-0), who trailed 7-5 at the start of the fourth quarter.

Ulrich also assisted on Steve Bishko's goal that tied the game at 7 with four minutes left.

Salisbury State 29, Western Maryland 4: Kevin Fox had six goals and Chris Fowler five as the Sea Gulls, ranked No. 2 in Division III, buried the host Green Terror.

Salisbury (9-0) trailed 3-1 early, but scored 28 unanswered goals, starting with back-to-back scores by junior midfielder Joe High with 1: 09 and 36 seconds left in the first quarter.

Women

No. 1 Maryland 23, Temple 5: Jen Adams had five goals and five assists and Quinn Carney contributed five goals as the Terps (9-0) routed the host Owls (1-5).

No. 9 Loyola 19, Richmond 9: Katie Robinson scored four goals to lead the Greyhounds (3-2) over the host Spiders (1-7). Loyola led 10-3 at halftime.

St. Mary's 11, Randolph-Macon 8: The host Seahawks (6-1), ranked No. 6 in Division III, outscored the Yellow Jackets (6-4) 8-1 over a 17 1/2-minute span on the way to the nonconference win.

Salisbury 21, Catholic 2: Amanda Moculski and Michelle Haynie combined for 20 points as the Sea Gulls (4-1, 2-0) romped past the host Cardinals (3-7, 1-4).

Villa Julie 15, Marymount 3: The winners' Laura Higgs and Nikki Racilla each had four goals.
