Four teens charged in robbery bid

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Four teen-agers were arrested Friday after an early-morning attempted armed robbery at an Ellicott City home.

Police said an armed person wearing a mask knocked on the door of an apartment in the 9000 block of Town & Country Blvd. in Ellicott City at 1: 09 a.m. Friday and tried to force his way into the residence when the door was opened.

The victim screamed and slammed the door, and the intruder fled the building.

The intruder was arrested at another address on Town & Country Boulevard, police said, along with three others.

Arrested in connection with the incident were: 19-year-old Hung Diep, of the 6500 block of Quilting Way in Columbia; 18-year-old Victor Riveria, of the 6500 block of Pennacook Court, Columbia; and two males, ages 17 and 15, both of Ellicott City.

Police recovered a bandanna they say the intruder wore over his face and a handgun allegedly used in the robbery attempt.

Police said they also found jewelry stolen during a previous break-in on Town & Country Boulevard.

A news brief in Sunday's Howard County edition of The Sun misstated the ages of two men arrested in an Ellicott City robbery that took place Friday. Charged were four men, including Nicholas Ryan Lawrenson, 19, of the 8700 block of Town & Country Blvd. in Ellicott City and Calderone Sylver, 21, also of the 8700 block of Town & Country Blvd. The Sun regrets the errors.
