Flouting rules on schools is risk to taxpayers

In The Sun's article of March 16 ("Rein on Carroll school projects sought") regarding the construction of the sewage plant at Francis Scott Key High School without the required permits, Kathy Sanner, a school official, is quoted as saying: "We were moving ahead at our own risk." That remark in a nutshell illustrates what's wrong with the school system.

It's not "your" risk, Ms. Sanner. It's our risk, the taxpayers. If you want to risk $824,000, take your own money to Las Vegas.

Don't risk our money by flouting the laws and procedures.

Lopsided report on Jeffrey Quante

Your March 18 article ("Man gets 10 years in Carroll accident that killed Randallstown father, 28") reporting on the sentencing of Jeffrey B. Quante IV was terribly lopsided.

Did anyone from the newspaper interview the dead man's wife, mother or children?

I'd never heard of Richard Robinson before yesterday and my heart goes out to his family.

At some point Jeffrey Quante will be released from prison and will be able to watch his children grow up. Bradley and Zachary Robinson won't be as fortunate. Their dad is dead.

Mr. Robinson's children are now victims of a "horrific accident."
