Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Howard County.

East Columbia

Owen Brown: A woman driving north on Columbia Gateway Drive was bumped from behind by a white compact car Tuesday at 6: 10 p.m. When the woman pulled over, the white car also pulled over and a man stepped out, got a gun out of his trunk, and fired a shot into the air. The woman drove off, and the man fired another shot, then followed the woman onto northbound Snowden River Parkway. She lost sight of him and called 911 from her cellular phone. She was not injured.

Ellicott City-Elkridge

Ellicott City: Someone broke into a residence in the 8700 block of Town & Country Blvd. Monday afternoon or early evening and stole a stereo and some jewelry.

Ellicott City: Someone broke into a residence in the 3600 block of Blue Hill Court Monday morning or afternoon and stole a stereo system, computer equipment and a video camera.

Ellicott City: Someone entered a house in the 11100 block of Homewood Road before 5 a.m. Thursday and stole a purse from the kitchen counter.

Elkridge: A 34-year-old taxi driver was robbed of his cab about 12: 48 p.m. Tuesday in the 6600 block of Santa Barbara Road. The driver picked up a fare in the Cherry Hill section of Baltimore and was headed to Howard County when the passenger ordered the driver to pull over and get out. The passenger implied that he had a weapon. After the driver got out, the passenger drove away in the 1991 blue-and-white Buick Century, owned by New Harbor Transport of Baltimore.

Elkridge: Someone broke into the Lodgian Developmental Construction Co. in the 6600 block of Amberton Dr. between 3: 15 p.m. March 19 and 7 a.m. Monday and stole about 60 commercial grade TV sets with 27" screens.

West Columbia

Lisbon: Someone broke into Lisbon Cargo in the 15900 block of Frederick Road at 3: 58 a.m. March 21 and removed 65 cartons of cigarettes. The intruder, partially recorded on videotape, used a trash can to move the cigarettes from the store to a small pickup truck. The quality of the videotape was too poor to reveal a tag number.
