Gospel concert to benefit victims of Texas flood

THE VERSATILES, A gospel music group well known in and around Carroll County, will present a dinner concert to benefit Texas flood victims April 3 at the Mount Airy Firemen's Activities Building on the carnival grounds at Route 27 and Twin Arch Road.

The dinner will begin at 4 p.m., and the concert at 5: 30 p.m. Tickets are $15 or $10 for children age 10 and younger. Tickets may be purchased at Bohn's Furniture in downtown Mount Airy and at Heidi's Gifts in Mount Airy Shopping Center.

Winfield spring dinner

Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual spring dinner starting at noon Sunday. The dinner will be served family-style and includes fried chicken, roast beef and ham.

Cost is $8.50 for adults and $3.50 for children ages 6 to 12.

The firehouse is on Liberty Road (Route 26) between Routes 97 and 94. Information: 410-795-4640.

International Day

Mount Airy Senior Center invites area seniors to a luncheon and program starting at 11: 30 a.m. Thursday for its International Day celebration.

At 12: 30 p.m., the Gioia Ensemble will perform songs in Italian, German, French, Spanish, Hebrew, Irish and English.

Lunch donation is up to $3.10, plus an activity fee of $2. Reservations must be paid in advance.

Library programs

Mount Airy's library is offering programs this week and next.

The library staff will present Freedom Drama Troupe at at 11 a.m. tomorrow in an adaptation of "Charlotte's Web." Registration is required.

Grown-ups and kids can attend the library's "Story Pals" story time at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday. The theme will be "Under the Big Top" and is designed for children ages 2 and 3 who are accompanied by an adult caregiver. Registration is required.

"Under the Big Top" will be offered for children ages 4 through 6 during the "Drop-in Read With Me" program at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1: 30 p.m. Tuesday. Registration is not required.

An April Fools' program for children in kindergarten and up will be held at 4: 30 p.m. Thursday. Celebrate April Fools' Day with tricks, jokes, riddles and silly stories. Registration is required.

Join the library staff for relaxing bedtime stories during the "Drop-in Story Time" program at 7 p.m. Thursday. Pajamas, bears and blankets are welcome.

No "Drop-in Story Time" program will be held April 2 because the library will be closed.
