"My favorite book is 'The Private Notebook...

"My favorite book is 'The Private Notebook of Katie Roberts, Age 11' by Amy Hest. This book is about an 11-year-old girl whose parents got divorced and what she goes through to get used to her father not being there. Her mother gets remarried and she has to move to Texas. The rest of the story tells how she had to get used to her new life. I like this book because it's in diary form and Katie is very brave and smart. I really recommend you read this book."

"We think the book 'Because a Little Bug Went Ka-Choo!' is the best Dr. Seuss book. One reason is because it has a lot of details, like the bright pink ship named Mary Lou. Another reason is because it is funny when a little bug went Ka-Choo! For these reasons, we think you should read 'Because a Little Bug Went Ka-Choo!' "

" 'North Country Night' by Daniel San Souci. This is about a lot of animals -- an owl, a bobcat and a red fox. The owl is looking for prey. The bobcat was running fast. I like the story because there are animals I love."

-- Shawn Eckenrode,

Pine Grove Elementary
