Two men with BB guns damage east side county businesses, cars

Two men armed with BB or pellet pistols cut a destructive swath across the east side of Baltimore County late Sunday, shooting out doors and windows at 41 businesses and winging one pedestrian, police said.

A man and his 1-year-old daughter were walking in Martin Plaza in Middle River when the two men drove by, pointed BB pistols at them and fired, said police spokesman Cpl. Vickie Warehime.

The man was hit by one shot that struck something in his back pocket but didn't hurt him, Warehime said. The child was uninjured. Neither pedestrian was identified by police.

Police said the shooting started some time after 10 p.m. Sunday.

Thirty businesses between the 7900 and 8200 blocks of Belair Road in Fullerton also were hit by the duo, Warehime said. Also damaged were five businesses in the first block of Nashua Court in Middle River and six in the Martin Plaza shopping center in the 1400 block of Martin Boulevard.

"They shot out doors, windows, cars," Warehime said. "There was no forced entry, no burglary attempts" at any of the businesses.

Warehime said one man was being interviewed late yesterday in connection with the shootings, but no arrests had been made and the investigation was continuing.
