Woman gives birth after accident kills husband, injures three children

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Shortly after being hurt in a head-on collision that killed her husband and injured her three children yesterday, a Lusby woman gave birth to a baby boy in an emergency Caesarean section.

Timothy Donn Jones, 34, of the 1100 block of Cordova Drive was killed when a 1993 Toyota 4-Runner, driven by Donald Ray Wilder of Chesapeake Beach, crossed a median on Route 2 north of Calvert Cliffs Parkway and slammed into his 1987 Cadillac about 12: 50 p.m., said state police Sgt. Raymond Sanders.

Jones' wife, Deanna Christine Jones, delivered her baby 10 weeks early at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, said Jennifer Davis, a nursing supervisor. Mrs. Jones, 31, was in stable condition there last night.

Her newborn son was in critical condition last night at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, said a spokeswoman there. Two of the couple's other children -- Cameron, 5, and Marissa, 4 -- also were in critical condition at Children's, where Makayla, 15 months, was in fair condition.

Wilder, 37, was treated at Calvert Memorial and released, Davis said.

The collision was being investigated last night.
