THE BALTIMORE SUN

Friends and supporters of Morgan State University gathered for a celebration of education at the Presidential Scholarship Ball last Friday.

It was a rose-colored evening for about 950 guests at Martin's West, as they were greeted by a room full of tables dressed in pink tablecloths, with pink azalea centerpieces.

Among those at the scholarly soiree: Earl S. Richardson, Morgan State president, and his wife, Sheila; Dave Johnson, chairman of the Morgan State University Foundation; Cheryl Hitchcock, president of the national MSU alumni association; Judge Paul Smith, Baltimore Circuit Court; Veronica Grafton Smith, claims supervisor for Baltimore solicitors; Joseph Haskins, president of Harbor Bank; and Elizabeth Anderson, whose late husband, William, created both the Presidential Scholarship fund and its annual gala 14 years ago.

Event chairwoman Mary Robinson and co-chairwoman Marlene Greer Chase kept the Ball rolling, raising money for the Presidential Scholarship Fund.

The fund has helped support more than 95 MSU students since 1985.
