Baysox offer game tickets for reading, writing efforts

BOWIE -- The Bowie Baysox baseball club has distributed 100,000 bookmarks in six Maryland counties, each with a reading score card that can mean free tickets for children.

The "Read & Hit a Home Run" promotion, expanding in its third year, offers a pair of free general admission tickets to games of the Orioles' Class AA affiliate for pupils who read and write a one-paragraph summary of four books, and have their teacher certify the work on the bookmark-score card.

The tickets are good for designated games -- April 23 is Anne Arundel County School Night; May 7 for Calvert, Charles and St. Mary's counties; May 14 for Montgomery; and June 11 for Prince George's.
