Woman robbed at gunpoint in N. Laurel home

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A 45-year-old North Laurel woman was robbed in her apartment early yesterday by a man who put a gun to her head and demanded money, Howard County police said.

The woman, who lives in the 9100 block of Blues Alley, told authorities that she was awakened by a crash about 2 a.m., said police spokesman Sgt. Morris Carroll. A man entered her bedroom, put a handgun to her head and ordered her to give him cash, police said.

"He told her: 'If you don't, I'll blow your brains out,' " Carroll said.

She pointed to her purse, and the man took an unknown amount of money from it, police said.

During the confrontation, the woman heard a noise in her living room, Carroll said; she learned later that an accomplice of the gunman had stolen her television.

Police determined that the robbers had kicked in the front door. The break-in is under investigation.

"It's a very disturbing robbery," Carroll said.
