Gwendolyn W. Zawodny, 63, owned cleaning service
Gwendolyn W. Zawodny, owner of a commercial and residential cleaning service, died Friday of injuries she suffered when she was struck by a pickup truck on Ridge Road in Baltimore County. The Dundalk resident was 63.
The former Gwendolyn Wiles, who was born in Hampden, had owned Gwen's Minute Maid, a cleaning service, since 1976. Earlier, she drove a Baltimore County school bus for 10 years.
Her marriage to Raymond Zawodny ended in divorce.
She taught Sunday school and was a member of the Mission-Etts at Dundalk Assembly of God Church, 7400 German Hill Road, where services were held yesterday.
She is survived by a son, Raymond Zawodny Jr. of Highlandtown; two daughters, Ramona Zawodny Krepka of Parkville and Dawn Zawodny of Joppatowne; a brother, David Wiles of Randallstown; a sister, Alma Pfeltz of Baltimore; and a grandson.
Charles E. 'Bud' Kauffman, 61, worked for BGE
Charles E. "Bud" Kauffman, a Baltimore native and former Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. employee, died Monday of cancer at home in West Grove, Pa. He was 61.
He was a customer service representative for BGE from 1957 until the late 1960s, when he moved to Westtown, Pa., and operated Brandywine Sod Farm in Chadds Ford, Pa. He later worked in sales and management.
A graduate of Loyola College, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He played golf and coached youth baseball and football.
Services are set for tomorrow in West Grove.
He is survived by his wife, the former Celeste Kudirka, whom he married in 1958; his parents, Charles E. Kauffman and Catherine Kotmair Kauffman of Fallston; a son, Charles "Skip" E. Kauffman III of West Chester, Pa.; four daughters, Caryl Kauffman and Trish Shirilla, both of Landenberg, Pa., Julie Toombs of Kennett Square, Pa., and Mary K. Dietz of West Grove; a brother, Stephen P. Kauffman of Ellicott City; and 11 grandchildren.
