State troopers' Operation Erin to target intoxicated drivers

Maryland State Police in Carroll County will conduct Operation Erin tomorrow to detect and arrest intoxicated drivers.

Troopers have been specially selected for the Enforcement Reduces Intoxicated Negligence assignment. Additional patrols will be used to help prevent alcohol-related driving fatalities.

Operation Erin troopers will display green ribbons on their cars as a reminder to not drink and drive. Motorists are asked to report aggressive and suspected intoxicated drivers by dialing #77 on a cellular phone.

Fires

Westminster: Firefighters from Westminster and Reese responded at 10: 32 a.m. Saturday to a chimney fire in the first block of Ralph St. Units were out 30 minutes.

Reese: Firefighters from Reese and Hampstead responded at 9: 54 p.m. Friday to a house fire in the 2500 block of Paso Fino Drive. Units were out two hours and 20 minutes.

Reese: Firefighters responded at 9: 44 p.m. Friday to a fire alarm in the 1900 block of Turnberry Court. Units were out 12 minutes.

Police

Westminster: An employee of David Max Realty on East Main Street told police Wednesday that someone took property from the office. Loss is estimated at $400.

Westminster: A resident of Carroll Street told police Sunday that someone punctured tires on two vehicles. Loss is estimated at $100.

Westminster: A resident of Windsor Drive told police Sunday that someone punctured tires on a vehicle parked at the home. Loss is estimated at $100.

Westminster: A resident of Johahn Drive told police Sunday that someone punctured tires on a vehicle parked at the home. Loss is estimated at $125.
