Carroll County foundation to accepting applications

The Community Foundation of Carroll County Inc. will accept grant applications until March 31.

Any Carroll County agency or charity requesting a grant may write a letter describing its work, the purpose of the request and amount it seeks.

Verification of tax-exempt status should be included.

Applications may be directed to the Community Foundation of Carroll County, Audrey S. Cimino, executive director, 171 Lincoln Road, Westminster 21157.

Sun columnist to speak at county women's fair

Baltimore Sun columnist and author Susan Reimer will be the keynote speaker at the Carroll County Women's Fair April 10 at Westminster High School.

This annual event features more than 70 workshops on topics ranging from teen-agers to money to health to crafts.

Displays, networking, entertainment and socializing will be featured from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A fashion show by Serendipity Bridal & Formal Wear will be held at 12: 30 p.m.

Advance registration by April 1 is $7. Box lunches will be available.

Agencies seek nominees for environmental awards

The Environmental Affairs Advisory Board and Bureau of Environmental Services are seeking nominees for their 1999 Environmental Awareness Awards.

Individuals, institutions and businesses that have made a difference in advancing environmental thought or action may be nominated.

A plaque will be given in each category to recognize achievements.

Nomination letters should include the nominee's name, address, telephone number, reason for nomination and supporting evidence.

Deadline for nominations is April 16. Letters should be sent to the Carroll County Bureau of Environmental Services, 225 N. Center St., Westminster 21157.

Awards will be presented at the board's May 26 meeting.
