Trial postponed in Sept. shooting

THE BALTIMORE SUN

The trial of a Baltimore man accused of attempted murder in the first of two September shootings in Harper's Choice village was postponed yesterday.

Prosecutor Christine B. Gage of the Howard County state's attorney's office asked that the trial of Maurice Green, 21, of the 400 block of Poplar Grove St. be delayed until May. She said a key witness had not received a subpoena and that new information arose during Circuit Court proceedings last week.

As Green and his attorney stood by in Courtroom 1, Circuit Judge Raymond J. Kane Jr. set May 10 as the new trial date.

Green, who was released on bail last year, has been charged with several felony counts, including attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery, in connection with the Sept. 20 shooting of Raymond Lawson, 17, of Columbia.

Last week, a Circuit Court jury acquitted Robert Joseph Manning, 18, of the 5100 block of Dickey Hill Road in Baltimore on charges of attempted murder in the second shooting, on Sept. 21.
