THE BALTIMORE SUN

Women

Johns Hopkins (23-4) at Elizabethtown (Pa.) (24-3)

When: Today

Time: 2: 30 p.m.

Site: Thompson Gymnasium, Elizabethtown, Pa.

TV/Radio: None

Series: Johns Hopkins leads 3-1

Outlook: The sequence must seem familiar for Johns Hopkins, which is in search of its third consecutive appearance in the NCAA's quarterfinals. In 1997, JHU beat Cabrini, which set up a road game at Elizabethtown. Just last week, Hopkins beat Cabrini again, providing for another battle at Elizabethtown, the No. 2 seed in the Mid-Atlantic region and the winningest program in women's basketball history with 805 victories in 71 seasons. Last time, Johns Hopkins won, 64-57, on the way to its first Elite Eight. In a 61-53 win over Cabrini, JHU won by plastering the Cavaliers on the boards, 61-39, led by center Marjahna Segers (13 rebounds). Hopkins enters having won its last nine games and 13 of the last 14; Elizabethtown is trying to rebound from an 81-60 loss to No. 1 seed Scranton in the finals of the Mid Atlantic States Conference tournament. Abbie Fabian and Carmen Chiles both average nearly 15 points per game for Elizabethtown.

Men

Catholic (22-6) at Goucher (23-4)

When: Today

Time: 7: 30 p.m.

Site: Sports and Recreation Center, Towson

TV/Radio: None

Series: Catholic leads 13-7

Outlook: This will be the fourth meeting between the teams this season, with the Gophers having won twice, including a 77-73 win in the Capital Athletic Conference tournament final at Goucher. The Cardinals are looking to improve on last year's NCAA showing, where they lost in the second round in double overtime to Hunter (N.Y.). Goucher is anchored by guard and CAC Player of the Year Bakari Ward (17.8 ppg, 2.6 steals) and forward Mike Doyle. Like last year's NCAA squad, Catholic features five players averaging at or around 10 points per game, led by senior guard Sean Tuohey's 12.6 a game. -
