Baltimore City
Northern District
Shootings: The driver of a car was standing outside his vehicle in the 2600 block of Maryland Ave. about 9: 35 p.m. Wednesday and talking to a man on a bicycle when one of two men came up and shot them several times. Police said the gunman and his accomplice drove off in the car, a 1986 Toyota Corolla with tags FXD 401, that was being sought. One victim was in serious condition at Sinai Hospital and the other was in critical condition and on life-support at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
Southwestern District
Shooting: A male, 17, was in the 2100 block of W. Baltimore St. about 4 p.m. Wednesday when a man shot him in the lower back. The victim was in critical but stable condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
Theft: Stereo speakers, an amplifier and 58 compact discs, all valued at $1,528, were stolen Wednesday from a 1988 Toyota truck parked in the 4500 block of Pen Lucy Road.
Central District
Robbery: A man struck a woman, 34, in the head with a metal cane and robbed her of $50 about 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of N. Eutaw St. The woman was treated at Maryland General Hospital.
Theft: Computer equipment valued at $4,430 was stolen from offices at Saratoga State Center in the 300 block of W. Saratoga St. between Feb. 24 and Wednesday.
Southern District
Arrests: Ten men were arrested Wednesday night for soliciting sex from two undercover female police officers posing as prostitutes. Sgt. Darryl Moore said the men solicited the women near the 2200 block of W. Patapsco Ave. and were directed a short distance to the 3100 block of Lorena Ave., where they were arrested. A similar operation occurred last night, but details were not available.
Baltimore County
Essex Precinct
Burglary/arrest: Two boys broke into a house in the 200 block of Shagbark Road in Wampler Village on Wednesday and were arrested a short distance away by Cpl. James Rommel of the police dog unit. Rommel's dog, Dyro, bit one of the boys on the left arm when he resisted arrest. No property was missing from the house.
North Point Precinct
Robbery try/arrest: A man tried to rob the Citgo station in the 200 block of Wise Ave. about 7 a.m. Wednesday but fled when the employee took his time opening the cash register. Minutes later, Officer Scott Bockstie arrested a man and recovered a handgun he threw into a yard.
Parkville Precinct
Robbery: A gunman robbed the KFC restaurant in the 9100 block of Belair Road of more than $500 about 8 p.m. Wednesday. He forced two employees into a rear room, ordered the manager to take money from a safe and fled in a green or faded blue Ford Tempo.
