SLIP ON YOUR poodle skirt and tie up your saddle oxfords. It's time for the Severna Park High School Rock 'n' Roll Revival.
Performances for the 10th edition of the student-faculty-alumni production are 8 p.m. March 12 and 13; 3 p.m. March 14; and 7: 30 p.m. March 18.
The quality of this show is always amazing. The first time I attended a performance, I thought the students were lip-synching, but all the music, vocal and instrumental, is very much live.
The show, which takes place on a New Orleans street, is directed by Doug Kotula, SPHS drama teacher, with senior Brittney Jenkins and junior Matt Hutchison serving as student directors.
The vocal director is new choral teacher and SPHS alumna Betsy Kraning.
The band director and choreographer are returning alumni Colin McCough and Julia Weber.
Other alums include technical director Gary Tawes, who has worked on all the previous shows, along with set designer Scott McCullough and lighting designer Greg Doyle.
Produced by guidance counselor Sam Scalzi, the show features performances by faculty members: volleyball coach and social studies chairman Tim Dunbar, math department chairwoman Kris Nichols, assistant principal Vicki Norbeck, special education chairwoman Cathy Seelig, media specialist Celeste Korpon, Kraning and Scalzi.
Tickets are $8 in advance, available during lunch periods at the school, and $9 at the door.
