Man arrested, charged in fatal 1998 beating

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A man has been arrested and charged with murder in the fatal beating of another man found dead beside Pulaski Highway on Feb. 24, 1998, Harford County sheriff's officials said yesterday.

Robert Matthew Glover, 35, of no fixed address was arrested Friday morning, said sheriff's spokesman Lt. Edward Hopkins. Glover is charged in the fatal beating of Charles Ray Scherer, 31, of the 1400 block of S. Philadelphia Blvd. in Aberdeen.

Hopkins said the beating occurred after a man sold Scherer a substance he claimed was crack cocaine. When Scherer found that it was not, he and the man got into a fight, Hopkins said. Glover is being held without bail in the Harford County Detention Center.
