A new name, but the crabs still reign


Get those crab mallets ready. Bahama Mama's (601 Wise Ave.) in Dundalk has become Mariner's Landing, with jumbo crabs available all year round -- to be eaten in the newly renovated dining room. New owner Steve Goff says more renovation is planned this spring for the outside, with lots of new decking. (The restaurant is located right on Bear Creek.) Besides crabs, the restaurant's signature dishes are the cream of crab soup and its huge crab cakes. Entrees run from $9 to $24.

Greek-American in Greektown

New in Greektown is Karpathos (4712 Eastern Ave.), open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is Greek-American, ranging from a souvlaki platter for $4.25 to a New York strip steak for $9.95.

Renovated Thai Harbor

The Thai Harbor (1032 Light St.) in Federal Hill is open now, after renovations and with a whole new staff. It's the restaurant that was the Mai Thai. Fans of the Thai Restaurant on Greenmount Avenue will like this one; it's owned by the same people. Worthy of note: the luncheon buffet for $6.95.

Bits and pieces

The Golden West Cafe (842 W. 36th St.) in Hampden is serving breakfast, starting at 8 a.m. Choices range from Southwestern dishes to banana pancakes with coconut syrup and french toast with cinnamon apples. ... Luigi Petti (1002 Eastern Ave.) has live music Friday and Saturday nights. The Little Italy restaurant has just finished extensive renovations to the dining room and has added a 125-seat banquet room ... The Midtown Yacht Club (15 E. Centre St.) has a large new menu of Tex-Mex fare as well as sandwiches and pizza ... Morton's the Steakhouse (300 S. Charles St.) offers a Martini Night every Friday with featured drinks like the citrus martini, the Georgetown martini and so on.
