"ER" (10 p.m.-11 p.m., WBAL, Channel 11) continues without George Clooney and instead focuses tonight on Dr. Benton (Eriq LaSalle) as the show takes a vacation from Chicago. Tonight, Benton works at a small clinic in Mississippi to earn extra money to support his deaf son's education. NBC.

"Diagnosis Murder" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., WJZ, Channel 13) -- It's a veritable family affair as six Van Dykes turn up on a yarn about a misguided teen turned boxer. Barry Van Dyke, who plays Lt. Sloan, wrote the script. CBS.

"Escape From Mars" (8 p.m.-10 p.m., WUTB, Channel 24) -- While the plot involves a crew trying to get to Mars, the title suggests that something goes horribly wrong. A crew of women and men travel to the red planet on a mission to make the place inhabitable. The new made-for-television drama stars Christine Elise, Peter Outerbridge, Kavan Smith, Michael Shanks and Allison Hossack. UPN.

"Mystery!" (9 p.m.-10 p.m., MPT, Channels 22, 67) -- Newspaper baron Max Van der Vuurst (Joss Ackland) is found murdered in the last original of "Heat of the Sun." PBS.

"Waiting To Exhale" (9 p.m.-11 p.m., WJLA, Channel 7) -- Forest Whitaker's adaptation of Terry McMillan's novel tells the story of four women struggling to find men who will treat them with respect. The well-received 1995 movie stars Whitney Houston, Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine and Lela Rochon. ABC. (Pre-empted by college basketball on WMAR, Channel 2.)


"Jurassic Survivors" (7 p.m.-8 p.m., Discovery Channel) -- Dinosaurs walked the Earth with the ancestors of the turtles, lizards and crocodiles we know today.

"This Boy's Life" (8 p.m.-10: 30 p.m., TNT) -- Leonardo DiCaprio earned good reviews in the role of a teen-ager emotionally and physically abused by his father in this 1993 film, which also stars Robert De Niro and Ellen Barkin. It's based on the memoirs of Tobias Wolff, who actually lived this boy's life in the 1950s.

"Life With Father" (10 p.m.-midnight, TCM) -- William Powell, Irene Dunn, Elizabeth Taylor and Edmund Gwenn star in the charming 1947 film about life in turn-of-the-century New York City.
