Court of Appeals Chief Judge Robert M. Bell and the Baltimore office of the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission will announce today the start of a program offering free mediation services to settle employment disputes.
This is the first time that the EEOC will offer free alternatives to full investigations in employment discrimination cases. The Maryland kickoff in Columbia is one of 50 being held around the country this week, after Congress allotted $13 million for such programs. The Johns Hopkins Health System and Giant Food Inc. have agreed to have all of their EEOC cases considered for mediation through this program.
