Alexandre Dumas Sr.

(1802-1870)

Dumas wrote in the course of his life close to 300 volumes. He took little regard of claims that he revised history for the purposes of his fiction writing and that he pilfered from other writers.

He wrote "The Count of Monte Cristo" and the "Three Musketeers."

His critics say there is too much melodrama in his work, but the French remember him for his plays, Henri III et sa cour, Napoleon Bonaparte, Antony, and La Tour de Nesle. He is known for having very heartily written and lived.
