Mount St. Joseph wins handily; Zuknick-led Spalding girls triumph

Mount St. Joseph, with its seemingly endless depth, and Spalding's girls, with Kelly Zuknick, wrapped up the indoor track championships of the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association at Essex Community College yesterday.

Zuknick, who ran a classy 5 minutes, 18 seconds in the high-school mile at the prestigious track meet at George Mason University Friday night, doubled back and won the mile, two-mile and high jump and ran a leg on a relay team to lead Spalding to a 19-point victory over Catholic High, 91-72. Mercy finished third.

Mount St. Joe, easily capturing the third and final league meet before next week's individual championships at Essex, captured six events, had six seconds and went 1-2-3 in the high jump, with Glenn Littlefield leaping 6 feet, 4 inches.

The Gaels nearly outscored runner-up Calvert Hall by a hundred points, 159-61.

Other outstanding performers were Channel Lattimer of McDonogh, who won the 60-yard dash in 7.3 seconds and took the 300 in 40.5, and Felix Isuk of Gilman, who launched the shot put 52 feet, 2 inches.
