Buddy Wayne Knox, 65, a rockabilly singer and songwriter who hit the top of the charts with "Party Doll" in the 1950s, died Sunday of cancer in Bremerton, Wash.

Gerald Dickler, 86, a lawyer who represented artists and broadcasters, including some who were blacklisted in the McCarthy era, died Feb. 13 in New York.

Eugene Jelesnik, 84, one of Utah's most familiar musical figures for decades as conductor of the Salt Lake Philharmonic Orchestra, died Tuesday in Salt Lake City.

William David McElroy, 82, former chancellor of the University of California at San Diego and a scientist who broke ground in discovering how fireflies glow, died Wednesday of respiratory failure in San Diego.

Bill Lipkey, 86, who organized the first U.S. Auto Club race more than 40 years ago, died Monday in Kokomo, Ind.
