Loyola women get record win, 72-58


Jina Mosley's 15 points led five double-digit scorers as Loyola clinched the third seed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's tournament with a 72-58 win over visiting Canisius.

Loyola (19-6, 12-5), which set a school record for regular-season wins, shot just 36.2 percent but led by 20 midway through the second half. The Greyhounds never trailed after an 11-0 run in the first half gave them a 22-10 lead.

Corey Hewitt contributed 12 points, and Mary Anne Kirsch, Shannon Cohen and Desiree Peterkin each had 10.

Florida State 69, Maryland 63: Arleshia Davidson and April Traylor each had 15 points to lead the host Seminoles (7-18, 2-13) over the Terps (5-20, 2-13) in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Deedee Warley led Maryland with 13 points.

The Terps shot 51.7 percent (15-for-29) in the second half but couldn't overcome an 11-point halftime deficit and 32 turnovers.

New Hampshire 72, Towson 63: The Wildcats (18-5, 12-4) rallied from an 11-point deficit behind 18 points from Orsi Farkas in defeating the host Tigers (10-14, 5-11) for the seventh time in eight meetings.

Jill McGowan's career-high 17 points led Towson.


New Hampshire 74, Towson 70: Ethan Cole had 20 points and made three of four free throws in the final 19 seconds as the Wildcats (4-21, 2-15) held off the Tigers in an America East game in Durham, N.H.

Towson trailed by 13 with 1: 47 left before using a 10-0 run to close within 71-68 with 21 seconds remaining.

Brian Barber had a career-high 26 points for Towson (5-19, 4-12).
