The notices showed up in every mailbox in Wagner's Point early yesterday: Gov. Parris N. Glendening would appear at a nearby library branch that morning and address the controversy over relocating residents of the tiny southern Baltimore neighborhood.
Two dozen residents rushed to the library. But at 10 a.m., they learned the flier was a hoax. The only event scheduled for the library was a meeting of the 47th District Democratic State Central Committee to fill a vacancy in the House of Delegates.
Glendening never had plans to attend.
The identity of the flier's sender was unknown. The flier mentioned Willie Walker, a former administrative law judge from Cherry Hill who was seeking the vacant seat in the state legislature. But Walker and public officials at the Democratic meeting said they knew nothing about the flier.
