Chris Williams and Skip Victor each scored six points during a decisive, 20-9 first-half run to lead Navy over Holy Cross, 70-55, last night in Worcester, Mass.
Williams and Sitapha Savane had 16 points and Victor added 15 for Navy (18-6, 7-3 Patriot League), which forced the Crusaders into 22 turnovers. James Stowers scored 18 points, all on three-pointers, for Holy Cross (5-19, 1-9).
Trailing 23-18 with 7: 59 left, Navy took control with an aggressive defense and a strong inside game. The 20-9 run put Navy up 38-32 at the break.
In the second half, Juan Pegues and Patrick Whearty each scored to cut the lead to 45-41 with 4: 42 left, but Victor, who had four steals, sparked a 15-5 run over the next 9: 59 to put Navy up 60-46.
Holy Cross led 17-8 with 12: 06 left in the first half as Ryan Serravalle converted back-to-back three-pointers.
Drexel 66, Towson 54: Four Dragons -- Mike Kouser (21 points), Joe Linderman (20), Mike DeRocckis (18) and Bryan Coursey (seven) -- accounted for all of Drexel's scoring in the win over the visiting Tigers (5-17, 4-10 America East).
Brian Barber led Towson with 21 points.
Johns Hopkins 59, Gettysburg 44: Joel Wertman scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed five rebounds and senior Matt Geschke added 15 points to power the Blue Jays (17-4, 8-2) past the visiting Bullets (13-8, 7-3) in the Centennial Conference.
The win was Hopkins' third straight and eighth in its last nine.
Washington College 70, Swarthmore 64: Dan Brandenberg scored 15 and Steve DeVore 14 as the visiting Shoremen (12-9, 5-5) downed the Garnet (3-18, 1-9) in a Centennial Conference game. Washington College out-rebounded Swarthmore, 44-40.
Dickinson 68, Western Maryland 56: Senior guard Shawn Ellis scored a team-high 14 points as Dickinson (8-13, 3-8) downed the visiting Green Terror (4-17, 1-9) in the Centennial Conference.
Western Maryland guard Brian Tombs led all scorers with 19 points.
