Mosley's 16 lead Loyola women past Marist, 58-52; Bowie State women roll to 40th straight home win


Jina Mosley had 16 points, as Loyola defeated Marist, 58-52, last night in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at Reitz Arena.

Mosley had 12 points in the first half as the Greyhounds (16-6, 9-5) took a 36-24 lead at halftime.

Loyola went scoreless for more than five minutes during one stretch in the second half and Marist (4-18, 3-11) pulled within 52-47 with 4: 09 left.

Corey Hewitt added 11 points and five assists for Loyola.

Bowie State 81, Virginia State 51: Rashida Brooks had 24 points, and Beverly Winstead and K.C. Thompson chipped in 13 each, as the Bulldogs (20-3) got their 40th consecutive home victory.

Johns Hopkins 50, Gettysburg 45: The Blue Jays (17-4, 10-1) outscored the host Bullets (10-10, 6-5) 10-3 over the final 2: 19 to clinch a berth in the Centennial Conference playoffs for the fifth straight season.

Leslie Ritter and Molly Malloy each had 12 points for Hopkins.

Western Maryland 75, Dickinson 49: Sophomore forward Jill Ibex led the way with 18 points and eight rebounds as the Green Terror (17-4, 11-1) clinched one of the four Centennial Conference playoff berths.

Goucher 58, Mary Washington 49: The visiting Gophers (5-15, 2-7) rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit on the way to a Capital Athletic Conference win over the Eagles (10-8, 4-6) in Fredericksburg, Va.

Washington College 56, Swarthmore 55: Katie Bierzonski had a game-high 23 points along with 10 rebounds as the visiting Shorewomen (13-7, 7-5) held on for a Centennial Conference win.


Virginia State 95, Bowie State 72: Jeffrey McCall's 22 points led four double-digit scorers, as the Trojans (10-11, 6-6) kept the host Bulldogs (2-21, 0-14) winless in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

James Rice led Bowie State with 18 points.
