Builders 1st Choice adds three partners

Builders 1st Choice has added three partners: Mary Jane Miner, Ed Howard and David Harper.

The Columbia-based company handles sales and marketing for new home builders. It had grown to more than $275 million in annual sales by the end of 1997. Its Land Division helps builders locate and acquire land for new communities.

Miner, who has been with the company since 1991, became sales and marketing manager in 1993.

Howard joined the company in 1992 and became regional vice president of sales and marketing in 1995.

Harper has been involved in real estate sales, management and training for more than 25 years.

Builders 1st Choice was founded by Bob Lucido and Pam Meding in 1991.

Business opportunity group holds EBO Awards for 1999

The Howard County Economic Development Authority Equal Business Opportunity Committee will hold its 1999 EBO Awards from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Feb. 18.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Kossiakoff Center, Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, 11100 Johns Hopkins Road in North Laurel.

Several Howard County groups will co-sponsor the event: African-American Coalition; Business Women's Network; the Chamber of Commerce; Commission for Women; Equal Business Opportunity Commission; Office of Human Rights; the NAACP; and the Jim Rouse Entrepreneurial Fund.

Tickets are $45; table reservations are $350.

Sharon C. Cantrell, formerly vice president for commercial lending at the Columbia Bank, has been promoted to vice president and senior credit officer. The Columbia resident will focus on the credit approval process, which includes determining the economic stability of loan applicants.
