Sophomore forward Kennedy Okafor scored 14 points off the bench to lead UMBC to an 81-74 victory last night over St. Francis, Pa., in a Northeast Conference game in Loretto, Pa.
UMBC (16-5, 15-0) ran its winning streak to 11 games and remained unbeaten in conference play. The Red Flash (9-12, 7-8) lost its fourth straight.
After St. Francis rallied to tie the game at 53, the Retrievers went ahead to stay with a 16-4 run to take a 69-57 lead.
Monmouth 75, Mount St. Mary's 71: Alpha Bangura scored 30 points as the host Hawks (2-19, 2-13) downed the Mountaineers (11-11, 9-7) in a Northeast Conference game.
Monmouth led by as much as 14 in the second half before the Mount used an 11-3 run to cut the lead to 67-63 with 41 seconds left.
Freshman Terrence Wilson led the Mountaineers with 16 points.
Villa Julie 63, Ursinus 58: Behind Michael Palmere's 15 points, the host Mustangs (4-15) rallied from a three-point halftime deficit to overtake the Bears (9-11).
Washington College 70, Wesley 60: Shawn Peterson's 15 points led four double-digit scorers as the Shoremen (10-9) won a nonconference game in Chestertown.
