Crofton Middle School will be closed today while consultants try to find the source of repeated heating system leaks in recent weeks that have resulted in a noxious odor, pupil evacuations and at least two instances of illness.
In a letter sent home with pupils yesterday, Superintendent Carol S. Parham said several outside consulting firms will examine the school's mechanical and ventilations systems and sample the air quality.
Parham said a report on the inspection will be presented at a community forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the school. The school will reopen Monday.
