Navy women's coach Joe Sanchez recorded his 400th career win as the Midshipmen defeated Colgate, 70-52, last night in a Patriot League game at Alumni Hall.
Navy's Laurie Coffey led all scorers with 18 points and five rebounds, and Erica Hayes added 15 points. The Midshipmen (13-6, 5-1) took control with a 27-8 first-half run and led 40-19 at halftime.
Sanchez has a 400-213 (.653) record in 21 seasons.
Towson 60, Hofstra 57: Faith Jones converted one of two free throws with 11 seconds left to clinch an America East win for the Tigers (9-9, 4-5) in Hempstead, N.Y. Jess Gordon led Towson with 18 points and eight rebounds.
St. Mary's 64, Marymount 53: The host Seahawks (11-5, 5-2) held the Saints (10-6, 3-4) scoreless for over 14 minutes in the second half on the way to a Capital Athletic Conference win.
Frostburg State 75, Villa Julie 40: Shannon Rexrode had 20 points to lead the Bobcats past the host Mustangs. Alyssa Phoebus led Villa Julie with 11 points.
Loyola 81, Marist 69: The Greyhounds (7-11, 2-9) had three double-digit scorers on the way to their second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win. Anthony Walker led Loyola with 21 points, and Roderick Platt had 17.
Hofstra 76, Towson 48: Craig Claxton scored 25, with 10 assists, eight rebounds and five steals as the host Flying Dutchmen (14-7, 7-3) crushed the Tigers (5-13, 4-7) in an America East game.
Goucher 64, York 60: Mike Doyle's 21 points led the Gophers (14-3, 6-1) to their fourth straight CAC win. A basket by Darrian Lee with 5: 03 left put the Gophers ahead to stay, 53-51.
Johns Hopkins 62, Western Maryland 47: Joel Wertman had a game-high 17 points as the host Blue Jays (14-3, 5-1) won their fifth straight.
Salisbury State 82, Gallaudet 70: Eric Prendeville had 16 points and Victor Jackson added 15 as the host Sea Gulls (8-8, 4-3) rallied from a nine-point deficit for a CAC win.
Marymount 64, St. Mary's 61: Tramane Howard's free throw with 23 seconds left led the Saints (10-6, 4-3) over the host Seahawks (8-8, 4-3) in a CAC game.
Franklin & Marshall 77, Washington College 76: Matt Leddy scored 27 points and Alex Kraft added 15 to help the Diplomats (15-2, 6-0) remain unbeaten in the Centennial Conference.
