Even though most of the snow had melted outside, about 800 people had a blizzard of fun inside the Harford Mall at the 10th annual Snow Ball, given by the Patrick Hart Foundation. Party-goers danced to songs performed by Onyx and bid on silent-auction items.
The Patrick Hart Foundation was created by Peggy and Tom Hart in memory of their son Patrick, who died in 1989 of tuberous sclerosis, a genetic disorder. The group raises money for the National Tuberous Sclerosis Association. The Snow Ball was expected to raise between $25,000 and $30,000.
Mingling with the crowd were the Harts; Vicky Whittemore, vice president for research of NTSA; Shonnie Johnson, chairwoman of the board of NTSA; and Karen Trinchere and Margaret DiPaula, who have been members of the Snow Ball committee since the event's inception.
