Towson High's Bev Snyder became the first Baltimore County coach to reach 400 career victories as the Generals defeated Dundalk, 58-41, last night.
Towson's Danie Mosca led all scorers with 21. Also, Lindsay Buchanan had 14 points for the visiting Generals, now 9-1 this season.
Snyder joined Breezy Bishop, Pat Chance and Dave Greenberg as the only Baltimore-area coaches with 400 career wins. She guided the Generals to their first state title a year ago.
Snyder's teams also have won three Baltimore County titles, five regional titles and reached state finals in 1979 and 1985.
Centennial's Greenberg is the only other active coach with 400 or more victories.
"I am excited but also relieved," Snyder said. "I was proud of my girls for doing it for me. I don't like being the forefront of anything. But the players started to get excited, so I got excited, and so I said, 'Hey, let's just do it.' "
Earlier, Snyder, who has coached at Towson for 26 years, gave credit to the quality of her school's program. "The consistency. and the number of good kids coming through -- that's what I'm proud of," she said.
