Drexel received double-figure scoring from all five starters, led by Mikki Miller's 16 points, as the Dragons handed the Towson women their third straight loss, 72-60, last night in an America East game in Philadelphia.

Drexel (7-9, 3-5) led by as many as 16 after Michelle Maslowski's jumper midway through the second half. The Tigers (8-7, 3-4) got as close as 61-54 with 4: 46 left.

Towson's Jess Gordon had a game-high 18 points. Freshman Faith Jones chipped in 14.

Western Maryland 62, Gettysburg 56: Kathi Snyder scored 19 and the host Green Terror scored 11 straight in the closing minutes to hold off the Bullets (6-6, 3-3) in a Centennial Conference game.

Western Maryland's 11-1 start is the best in school history.

In winning their seventh straight, the Green Terror (11-1, 6-0), ranked sixth in the NCAA Mideast Region, rallied from a 51-47 deficit in the final 4: 04.

Johns Hopkins 56, Ursinus 37: Leslie Ritter, the game's only double-digit scorer, had 10 points to lead the host Blue Jays (12-3, 5-0) past the Bears (4-8, 2-4) in a University Athletic Association game.

Despite shooting 29.2 percent, Hopkins led 26-16 at halftime.

Washington College 68, Haverford 48: Allyson Britton had a game-high 21 points to lead the Shorewomen (8-5, 2-3) in a Centennial Conference game in Chestertown. Diane Zeng added 15 points and Kerry Lomax 10 for Washington College.

The Shorewomen took control in the first half, holding the Black Squirrels (4-10, 2-4) to 28.1 percent shooting and leading 35-21 at the break.

Men

Virginia Union 78, Bowie State 72: William Davis scored 20 to power the Panthers (12-2) past the visiting Bulldogs (2-16). Bowie State's William Brown led all scorers with 31.

The Panthers shot 50 percent from the floor in the first half to take an 41-33 lead at the half.
