Lord Robert Lowry,79, Northern Ireland's former senior judge who survived an assassination attempt by the Irish Republican Army in the early 1980s, died yesterday in a London hospital. The cause of death was not announced.

Aldo van Eyck,80, considered the most important Dutch architect of the 20th century, died of a heart attack, media reported yesterday in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
