Two men suspected of holding up a pizza delivery driver Sunday night tried to rob a clerk at an Oakland Mills gas station Monday, Howard County police said.
About 9: 15 p.m., two men approached the cashier in the booth of the Exxon station in the 6300 block of Stevens Forest Road, police said.
One of the men bought a pack of cigars, police said, and the clerk noticed he wasn't wearing gloves, despite the cold. The clerk offered the man a pair she had found earlier that day, but the man said, "No, thank you," police said.
A few minutes later, the men returned, and the gloveless man, now wearing a ski mask, pulled a silver handgun and said, "Give me the money that's in the drawer."
The clerk then reached for an alarm and the would-be robbers fled.
Police say the men matched the description of a pair who robbed a Pizza Boli's driver at gunpoint in Oakland Mills Sunday night.
