THE BALTIMORE SUN

One person was killed and another seriously injured in an accident yesterday on the main commuter corridor between western Baltimore County and Westminster, Baltimore County police said.

Police identified the dead woman as Vivian Thaler, 64, of the 8500 block of Arborwood Road in Pikesville. Her husband, Herbert Thaler, 86, was in serious condition last night at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

According to police, a 1990 Volvo driven by Herbert Thaler stopped at a stop sign at Glen Falls Road shortly after 4 p.m. and turned left onto Westminster Pike (Route 140) and into the path of a northbound 1992 Chevy Camaro.

Police said the Camaro struck the driver's door of the Volvo and that Vivian Thaler, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the Volvo. She was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the Camaro was uninjured, police said.
