Members of the Engineers' Club and their guests welcomed 1999 in fine style at the group's lovely Mount Vernon Place location. (Old-timers remember this Baltimore landmark as the Garrett-Jacobs Mansion.)
The club's gala was actually two events in one. Members with plans for later in the evening were greeted by the sounds of champagne corks popping at 5:30 p.m. and treated to a four-course dinner at 6:30 p.m. The main event began at 8 p.m. with an elegant reception and dinner.
Among those on the guest list were Michael and Carolyn Goodrich (he's president of the club); Randi Dutch, executive director of the club; Rene Herbst, president of Herbst & Associates, and his wife, Carolyn, president of the club's women's auxiliary; and Dr. Arno Huther, a dentist, and his wife, Katherine.
