Crystal Ball celebration

The Crystal Ball is a New Year's Eve celebration with a cause. Since it bounced onto the scene eight years ago, it has raised megabucks for the South Baltimore Homeless Shelter's programs for men, women and children.

Guests donned black-tie outfits or black-and-white festive attire for this year's event at the Clarence Du Burns Arena in Canton and danced the night away to the music of Tony Berry & New Money, a rock band, and Totally Confused, a swing band.

Spotted at the party were Kirby and Carmina Fowler (he's a shelter board member and attorney); Frank and Sally Grey (she's a board member and he's an attorney); Margaret Reiley, shelter board member; Meg Fielding, shelter board member; Tim Williams, executive director of the shelter; Donna Crivello, of Donna's restaurants; and party committee members Victoria August, attorney; James Baldwin, Weinberg, Harris Public Relations; Jack Elsby, owner of the Brass Elephant, which catered the affair; Randon Fitch, architect; Michael Lors, Shandwick Advertising; and Kathy Vetoris, alumnae director, St. Paul's School for Girls.
